I must impress the importance of continuing core vaccinations every 14 to 21 days. We vaccinate all our puppies. The first vaccination starts at 4 weeks of age with kennel cough. We give the first DA2P+PV at 6 to 7 weeks of age. The second and reoccurring vaccinations are DA2P+PV. The new owner must continue vaccinating. Each puppy is an individual. The maternal antibodies in each puppy is different. In some puppies the antibodies are depleted at 8 weeks. In other puppies in the same litter, antibodies may last up to 14 weeks. It is very important that you continue the vaccination protocol.
Breeders in the USA have a problem with the importation of dogs and puppies from all over the world. Most diseases had almost been eliminated or under control in the USA. Rescues and shelters are importing dogs to supply the public demand. USDA is trying it's best to control importation, thereby controlling disease. Unfortunately, many dogs and puppies are slipping thru the cracks or being smuggled. This is leaving the USA dog population in dire straits. Continuing your puppies and dogs vaccinations at this time is of upmost importance. Parvo is running rampant in many states. Vaccinate!
